Ozone Therapy

Support Cellular Energy, Immune Balance & Whole-Body Recovery

Ozone Therapy is a medical treatment that uses a specialized form of oxygen to support cellular energy, circulation, immune regulation, and recovery.

At Nova Clinic, Ozone Therapy is used as part of a personalized naturopathic care plan — especially for patients dealing with chronic inflammation, fatigue, immune concerns, recurrent infections, pain, or slow healing.

We are conveniently located at #208 - 6707 Elbow Drive SW Calgary, AB. CALL US today to BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT.

When Your Body Feels Stuck, There Is Usually a Reason

You may be experiencing:

Chronic fatigue

Brain fog

Autoimmune flare-ups

Inflammation

Recurrent infections

Pain or stiffness

Poor recovery after stress

Slow healing

Inflammation is a signal that tells us something is wrong. Your naturopathic doctor should help you understand the root cause of your inflammation and may offer Ozone treatments as a way to manage your inflammation.

What Is Ozone Therapy?

Ozone is a specialized form of oxygen called O₃.

Regular oxygen is O₂, with two oxygen atoms. Ozone has three. That extra oxygen atom makes ozone highly active.

In a medical setting, ozone is carefully generated from pure oxygen and used in controlled ways to create a therapeutic signal inside the body.

Ozone Therapy does not work by forcing the body.
It works by helping the body respond.

The Healing Signal: How Ozone Supports the Body

Ozone Therapy creates a brief, controlled oxidative signal. This signal may encourage your body to activate antioxidant defenses, regulate inflammation, improve oxygen use, and support repair.

01

Ozone Signal

Medical ozone is introduced using a clinically appropriate method.

02

Controlled Stressor

A short oxidative signal is created in the body.

03

Antioxidant Response

The body may activate its own antioxidant protection systems.

04

Immune Regulation

Inflammation and immune activity may become more balanced.

05

Recovery Support

Cells may function, repair, and recover more efficiently.

Why This Matters for Autoimmunity & Inflammation

In autoimmune and chronic inflammatory conditions, the immune system can become overactive or poorly regulated.

Instead of calming down after a threat has passed, it may keep creating inflammation — leading to fatigue, pain, flare-ups, and tissue irritation.

Ozone Therapy may help by supporting immune balance, not by simply “boosting” the immune system.

Patient-Friendly Analogy

Think of inflammation like a fire alarm.

In autoimmunity, the alarm may keep ringing even when there is no emergency. Ozone Therapy may help support the body’s ability to recalibrate that alarm system.

Ozone Therapy May Be Right for You If…

You may benefit from exploring Ozone Therapy if you feel:

  • Your body is constantly inflamed

  • Your energy does not recover with rest

  • You experience frequent flare-ups

  • Your immune system feels overactive or weak

  • You get sick often or recover slowly

  • You have ongoing pain or stiffness

  • You want deeper cellular support

If your body feels stuck, Ozone Therapy may help support the systems responsible for repair, regulation, and resilience.

Safe, Precise & Clinically Guided

Ozone is powerful, which is why proper use matters. At Nova Clinic, Ozone Therapy is approached with careful clinical judgment, medical-grade equipment, and patient-specific protocols.

Important Safety Notes

  • Ozone should never be inhaled

  • Medical ozone is different from environmental ozone

  • Treatment must be performed by trained providers

  • Proper dosing and equipment matter

  • Ozone is not appropriate for every patient

  • A consultation is required before treatment

Types of Ozone Treatments We Offer

Ozone therapy is a versatile treatment modality that involves the administration of medical-grade ozone—a reactive form of oxygen (O₃)—to stimulate the body's natural healing and immune responses. In a clinical setting, these treatments are generally categorized by their method of delivery.

1. Systemic Ozone Therapy

These methods aim to affect the entire body by introducing ozone into the bloodstream or through mucosal absorption.

  • Major Autohemotherapy (MAH): This is the "gold standard" for systemic ozone. A specific amount of the patient’s blood is drawn into a sterile bag, infused with a precise concentration of medical ozone, and then re-infused back into the body.

  • High-Dose Ozone (Ozonated Saline/Multi-pass): A variation of MAH where the blood is treated multiple times or ozone is infused into a saline drip to achieve a higher concentration of the gas in the system.

  • Insufflation (Rectal or Vaginal): Ozone gas is introduced into the body through the rectal or vaginal cavity. The gas is absorbed through the highly vascularized mucosal lining, providing a systemic effect without the need for an IV.

2. Localized Ozone Treatments

These treatments target specific areas of concern, such as joint pain, skin infections, or non-healing wounds.

  • Prolozone Injections: A combination of homeopathic anti-inflammatories, vitamins, and ozone gas is injected into joints, ligaments, or tendons. It is commonly used for chronic pain, such as "runner's knee" or back pain, to stimulate tissue regeneration.

  • Ozone Bagging/Limb Bagging: The affected limb (arm or leg) is placed in a specialized airtight bag that is filled with ozone gas. This is primarily used for skin infections, diabetic ulcers, or fungal issues.

  • Ozonated Oils and Salves: Topical applications of olive or sunflower oils that have been infused with ozone to treat minor cuts, acne, or dermatitis.

3. Specialized Applications (Not in scope for AB NDs)

  • Ozone Ear Insufflation: A very low flow of ozone gas is introduced into the ear canal via a modified stethoscope. This is often used for ear infections, sinus congestion, or brain fog.

  • Dental Ozone: Used in biological dentistry to disinfect cavities or treat gum disease by killing bacteria and viruses on contact.

How it Works

When ozone enters the body, it creates a brief period of controlled "oxidative stress." This triggers several biological pathways:

  1. Immune Modulation: It can help balance the immune system, particularly in cases of chronic inflammation.

  2. Oxygen Delivery: It enhances the ability of red blood cells to release oxygen into the tissues.

  3. Antioxidant Stimulation: It signals the body to produce more of its own protective antioxidant enzymes, such as glutathione.

Note: Medical ozone is never inhaled, as it can be irritating to the lung tissue. All clinical procedures are designed to ensure the gas is delivered safely through other pathways.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. Ozone should never be inhaled. Medical ozone is administered through specific clinical methods selected by your provider.

  • When performed by trained providers using proper equipment and protocols, Ozone Therapy can be well tolerated. It is not appropriate for everyone, so an assessment is required.

  • Most patients need a series of treatments. The number depends on your health concerns, goals, and response.

  • It may support autoimmune and inflammatory concerns by helping activate antioxidant pathways and support immune regulation. It is not a cure, but it may be part of a broader care plan.

  • It may support fatigue related to oxygen use, mitochondrial stress, inflammation, and poor recovery. Your practitioner will assess what may be contributing to your fatigue.

  • Yes. When appropriate, Ozone Therapy may be combined with IV therapy, regenerative injections, nutrition, testing, and other naturopathic care.
