Meet Dr. Ali Nurani, ND

Passionate healthcare provider, holistic healer, and alternative healthcare advocate, Dr. Ali Nurani is a certified naturopathic doctor based in the southwest of Calgary. Dr. Nurani is also the owner and operator of Nova Naturopathic Integrative Clinic and runs a general family practice delivering high-quality naturopathic medical care to patients of all levels of health. In addition to primary care, he focuses on preventative and long-term sustainable wellness and has a vested interest in helping his patients get and stay healthy.

His desire for helping people started when he was a teenager when he used to volunteer in hospitals growing up in Kenya. Dr. Nurani began to see several deficiencies and drawbacks to the conventional healthcare system especially after seeing his mother who had a serious illness go undiagnosed for several years. He always believed there was a better way to improve the delivery of health. One of his strongest beliefs is the importance and the fundamental need to empower people to take control over their own health while also helping them to make healthy life choices. He has always advocated that health is a positive and active journey of complete physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing, and not merely the absence of disease.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary, Dr Nurani went on to pursue a four-year intensive naturopathic medical degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. It was exactly what he was looking for, as he wanted to combine both the art and science of medicine in order to transform people’s health, treating people and not symptoms, finding long term cures instead of short-term relief.

In his prior clinical experience, Dr. Nurani has had the opportunity to work and train at a number of clinics through internships as well as preceptorships, including Canada’s largest naturopathic clinic, Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, as well as Anishnawbe Health Toronto, Parkdale Community Health Center and Queen West Community Health Centers in Toronto. Five years after graduating from the naturopathic medicine program, Dr. Nurani founded Nova Naturopathic Integrative Clinic in November 2020.

After witnessing first hand the power of naturopathic medicine in his personal and professional life, Dr. Nurani has helped numerous patients achieve their health goals using this approach. Dr. Nurani’s passion to provide effective care for his patients through individualized medicine has helped him achieve excellent clinical results in the past. Naturopathic medicine is truly the perfect vehicle that allows a top-down holistic approach to healing and optimum health and most importantly it has allowed him to fulfill his passion of helping others get healthy.

When he is not working, Dr. Nurani spends his free time playing both individual and team sports and working out in the gym. He loves exploring music, reading philosophy and self-growth books, doing community work, travelling and volunteering.

Dr. Nurani is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and is registered through the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta. He is also a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors in good standing. Dr. Nurani has special training in IV nutrient therapy and regenerative injection therapy as well.

Treatments target a number of digestive, weight management, endocrine, immune, pain management, and nervous concerns. Dr. Nurani will typically spend hours trying to figure out the root cause to come up with a comprehensive treatment plan to ensure the best type of approach for each patient.
