Insurance And Billing Questions

cancellation policy:

Please be advised of our 24hr cancellation policy, failure to properly inform the clinic of any appointment cancellations within this period may result in a fee being added to your account.

Do you offer direct billing?

Naturopathic health services are covered by most major extended healthcare insurance plans. If your insurance company allows direct billing and payment we can look after the billing for you. If your insurance company will not allow direct billing and payment you will pay the clinic and submit to your insurance company, however we will assist with your paperwork to make it easier for you.

will my treatment be fully covered by my insurance?

The percentage that may be covered for each treatment varies by each insurance company and each patient’s specific policy. For example, some insurance companies only cover a certain percentage of the total and/or up to a daily maximum per treatment. Any outstanding amounts must be paid up front by the patient following the treatment. To find out if you have naturopathic, acupuncture or massage coverage and how much of your treatment will be covered, we recommend you contact your insurance company directly.

Please note: Some insurance companies do not cover certain treatments such as IV Nutrient Therapy treatments. Please confirm with your insurance company before your visit.

does alberta health care cover naturopathic services?

The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) does NOT currently cover naturopathic services in Alberta. Naturopathic doctors in Alberta are regulated under the Health Professions Act together with medical doctors, dentists, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Therefore, as long as your Naturopathic Doctor is a member of the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA), most private insurance companies will cover service fees for Naturopathic Doctors under Extended Health Coverage plans. Naturopathic services are also covered by several group plans sponsored by employers, unions and associations.

Direct billing disclaimer:

  • At the client’s request, for insurance purposes, the clinic will provide a more detailed breakdown of the services rendered during the naturopathic appointment. Please note that it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that their insurance company covers each of the naturopathic services rendered by the clinic. The clinic bears no responsibility to either the client or the insurance company to verify whether or the extent to which each of the naturopathic services rendered falls within the scope of the client’s insurance plan.

  • If the claim that we submit to your insurance company on your behalf comes back stating “Pending/for Review” you will be responsible for paying the full cost of the appointment. In this case we will void the claim and you will be required to re-submit the claim yourself. Generally, amounts covered by insurance companies are paid to you within about a week.

  • You will also be responsible for payment when services are rendered should your insurance company deny the claim, your coverage is maxed out, or your plan has been terminated.
